Meet Our New Administrative Team

Meet Our New Administrative Team

We're excited to begin the 2024-25 school year with a new administrative team. Here's an opportunity to get to know the leaders at South.

Principal Dr. Dan Peo

Dr. Dan Peo, the new principal at Middle School South, has served as an assistant principal at Avon High School for the past two years after serving as the assistant principal at Wea Ridge Middle School in Lafayette, Indiana for four years. He was a band director prior to becoming an administrator, continues to have a passion for performing arts, and truly feels at home in Avon where we have world-class performing arts programs! Dr. Peo looks forward to joining the incredible educators and staff at Middle School South and continuing the legacy of excellence that has been the hallmark of South for many years.

Assistant Principal Orleta Holmes

Orleta Holmes has served as Assistant Principal at Avon Intermediate East since 2022. She has served as a Testing/Data Coordinator, Instructional Coach, and 5th-grade Teacher at an Indianapolis charter school. She also gained experience as a secondary Social Studies teacher in West Virginia before relocating to the Hoosier State. She had expressed interest in moving to the middle school level, and she is excited to transition to AMS South this summer.

Assistant Principal Gretchen Matthews

Gretchen is a familiar face — she is a proud AHS graduate who has taught middle school social studies in Avon for almost 20 years. She's also been a PLC leader, team leader, and department leader among the many other ways she's impacted our schools. She transitions to South this summer from her role at AMS North.

Athletic Director/Dean of Students Scott Adams

Scott Adams is a long-time Avon PE teacher and coach. A familiar face on the sidelines and in the AMS North gymnasium, Scott will take over the role of Athletic Director and Dean this summer.

These leaders are going to be a great team to lead AMS South into the future and they're excited to get to know students at the start of the new school year.
