Educational Travel Opportunity - 8th Graders

Our Spanish teacher, Señora Barker, is planning a Marine Conservation trip over spring break 2028. Students will travel to the Dominican Republic on a service-learning tour. This unique experience goes beyond the classroom, allowing students to study marine ecosystems firsthand while working alongside experts to protect coral reefs and coastal habitats. Students will snorkel in crystal-clear waters, participate in hands-on conservation projects, and gain a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship, all while building independence, confidence, and new friendships. There will be countless opportunities to practice your Spanish and learn about the country and cultures, in addition to earning 18 service-learning hours. 

Enrollment is limited to 25 travelers due to the nature of the hands-on learning and service-driven aspects of the tour. We typically have around 40 travelers, and we will have interested students fill out a short application.  The week after the meeting, applications will be reviewed, and students who are selected will receive an official enrollment link from EF Tours. This selection process will ensure a well-rounded selection process and will help us evaluate a student's interest in travel and will provide students the chance to express their motivations and goals.
